Believe and Family - Lauren Tomecek

Hello chipboard fans. This is a very sad post for me, as it is my last design team reveal after 5 years with Scrapmatts. I have had such a great time on the team, made fantastic friends and loved every day of working with the amazing designs.

My last two reveals are both created for CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. First up is the reveal for the current December challenge. I've used a 2016 Santa photo and can't believe how much older my boy looks in just one year. That wonderful title piece comes from CB6111 Assorted Words 27.

I love the range of reindeer chipboard designs available and had this lovely guy left over for a while now from CB5050 Reindeer 07. The 'falling snow' in the background uses the ST5003 stencil, first with gesso applied through it and then a bead mixture with matte medium once the gesso was dry.

I loved the CB1053 Christmas Ornaments 03 and just coated them in some silver embossing powder. My flourishes are offcuts from CB4069, inked in black for contrast.

If you want to see the CSI reveal, it is based on the below image. I used Christmas/winter elements, silver, circular elements and something fuzzy. I actually forgot all about the journaling component though. :(

Design number two was actually created for November's mid-month reveal so has already gone live on the CSI blog. My family travelled from all around the east coast of Australia to attend Harrison's 3rd birthday party and I was able to grab a photo of us all together.

I've used a couple of different chipboard pieces in this one. I like using the shaped pieces to add some extra dimension to my backgrounds. If you cut them up they will last for ages, I've actually only used half of a sheet of CB5142 Retro Squares 02 on this layout but it looks like much more. The title comes from CB6105 Assorted Words 23.

I have used CB5056 Twigs 02 along the bottom of the photo to mirror the trees in the background of my photo.

I was inspired by the repeating squares/rectangles of 'The Scene' and used that to build up my paper layers. I loved 'The Scheme' with the focus on brown/green/white. My 'Evidence' includes clips, leaves, stamp, button, tags and string. My 'Testimony' has been written on a tag.

Thank you so much for looking at my work over the past 5 years. I hope it has inspired you in some way and look forward to seeing what you can create with Scrapmatts products. If you want to keep seeing more of my work please check out my blog or Instagram.

Joy - just a little bit Christmassy!!!

Hello there,
How is your October going? hummm yes the year is flying by..  Today I would like to share with you a layout that is oh so very Christmassy!! And of course it is loaded with beautiful SCRAPMATTS  products! You can check out the huge selection of Christmas themed chipboard in the STORE HERE!!!!

ok... So I had a few of these frames..

and I thought I would do something different with them..  so I cut them in half and embossed them in a fabulous glittery blue..

I then proceeded to add some wonderful stars on my back ground paper with the Stencil Stars and when that was dry I created my layout with a Christmas theme..

some closer views..

And this is how I used the frames, layered and placed around my photos, they look so good I think, and the stars are perfect for a festive theme... I love the beautiful word "Joy" too, covered in kindy glitz for sparkle!!

And I also cut up the String Circle frame and placed it around my photos ... I love the dimension the sweet stars add to the back ground with the stencilled stars...

and my layout...

Joy...

The flowers were made by me  and I love how pretty the Holly leaves look painted silver and pink using water colors.

And here is a list of the SCRAPMATTS I have used..

ST5002 Stencil Stars

CB6111 Assorted Words 27

CB6040 Arch Window Frame 03

CB1183 Christmas Ornaments 10

CB5138 String Circles 02

CB5164 Holly 05

Don't be afraid to cut up your chipboard to place around your page to suit the design, it makes the chipboard go further rather then be hidden under your photos.. You can add color to your chipboards with water colors, paints, gel pens, kindy glitz and embossing powders..

Thank you for dropping by the blog today, and remember to pop in regularly as new creations are being added all the time..   Until next time...  Happy Scrapmatting!!

Hello from Helen at Scrapmatts

Welcome back , it's lovely to have you come and visit as I showcase the versatile  Scrapmatts products, which add wonderful texture and embellishment to any project.
I chose the chipboard  Triangles to complement the triangle paper.
I coloured them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine, "Coral" and some Ranger UTEE, "Gold"
I scattered some other words around - CB 1189 Scrap Words 01
In keeping with the triangle theme I used Alphabet flags as the title.
A bit about the papers I've used.
The denim border is an oldie from Simple Stories.
The turquoise background is from Crate Paper.
The triangles paper is a new release from Cocoa Vanilla, "Endless Summer"
I like the way they all played nicely together, and highlight the chipboard triangles.

The layout was inspired by a sketch from mascarinashirley.blogspot.ca

I have some journalling on the back of the page.  It reads:-
You two little scamps came with your big brother for a sleep over in the school holidays.
It's about the only time I can nab you together and get a couple of photos.
Out of the dozens I took there was not one with both of you looking good.
You love to joke around, flick your hands in the air, wrestle each other to the ground,
poke your tongues out, close your eyes, screw your noses up
and make and all sorts of crazy faces.
So this photo is a composite of two images - the best of a terribly bad lot!
Love Granny

Because we are in the count down to Christmas I created a gift box
with a mixture of papers and of course lots of Scrapmatts yummies.
Why I chose the busiest time of the year to experiment with making a video
 is utterly beyond my comprehension.
But I wanted to show you the mechanism of the box.   Bad idea!
It's taken me days and I'm not sure it's something I would care to do again,
but here it is, with my long suffering husband's help. Ta Dah!!!

It has lots of flaws, but in the spirit of Christmas,
I know you will be tolerant of my first effort.

Do you use Scrapmatts products?
Why not upload your projects on to the Gallery so we can leave you some love.
Thanks for calling in and for any comments you care to leave,  I love reading them.
Wishing you a safe and Happy Christmas
and I look forward to seeing you again in January.

'Christmas Creations'

Hello all  :)

Kim here to share with you some festive creations!

Each year I like to have a Christmas theme, just to make it a little more exciting
(mainly for me).
This Christmas I thought I would go for a Scandinavian theme.....so think of natural, earthy colours.

Here are a few of the Christmas tree decorations I have made!
I simply grabbed some material in desired colours
(I still want to add some brown tones). Using
some good old  Christmas cookie cutters, I traced around the shapes & cut them out.
I then stitched them mostly together, added some stuffing & finished off the stitching.

I then either stitched or glued the Scrapmatts Words/elements into
place.

I also added lace and tiny twine to a few.

I really like how these little decorations turned out....very easy to make &
very cost effective and the best thing is they are original.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my post and before I go....
I would like to wish you all a truly wonderful
Christmas & a Happy and Healthy 2016!

And if you are traveling please keep safe

All the best

Kim Ewins
