August creating with Lizzy..

Hello there, I hope your day is going well!

I would like to share with you some creating I have done using some wonderful SCRAPMATTS PRODUCTS..

Firstly I have a layout I have created and I was looking for a bold effect. The best way to get your chipboard to stand out is to color it black I think.. and that is what I have done. I have used black gesso on my chipboard on this layout..
These are the chipboard pieces I have used on my layout after painting them black, and they are..
CB5129 Circle Mesh 02,

 CB5139 String Circles 03,

  CB6105 Assorted Words 23,

the flowers from CB4015 Picket Fence 02,

and the Butterflies from CB4012 Frames 03, .
I also did some stencilling on the back ground with texture paste before I put down the embellishments using the stencils.. ST1026 Stencil Circles
and ST5005 Stencil Patterns

and the stencilling..

and my layout completed..

I have cut the circles into the sections I wanted.. I like the boldness of the chipboards in black against the bright colored back ground..

And I would like to share two cards I have created. They are Christmas cards because it is just incredible how quickly this year is going by. I have used some gorgeous chipboard pieces on my cards..
Sentiment Words CB1184 12
  and

Holly and flourishes CB1224 03
and some stencilling using ST5039

and my cards..

The holly and flourishes have been colored with glitter gel pens.. they are so pretty in real life..

I hope you have found some inspiration and if you are starting to think of Christmas there is a lot of wonderful embellishments to be found in the CHRISTMAS SECTION HERE...

Until next time.... Happy creating!

August projects by Helen

Hello Scrappy Friends.
Welcome to my August Scrapmatts projects.

The first two projects were created for the CSI/Scrapmatts combined challenge.  I didn’t get a chance to show them before leaving on holidays.

The texture was created with ST1003 Stencil Sticks

This is the second page created for CSI/Scrapmatts challenge.
The texture was created with the gorgeous new stencil
 ST5030 Stencil Flowers
The bird cage  MC1028 Micro Chips 20
and antique stand  MC1028 Micro Chips 20
were dabbed with gesso
and the little bird was tinted a pale blue.
The frame CB6011 Ornate Frame 09
was treated with gesso and dabbed with distress ink.
The word title CB1198 Scrapwords 06
was given a light water colour wash.
I love the way the border CB2001 Page Borders 01
responded to LSG Magicals and Glossy accents.

For the cherish, memories, laughter layout,
I enjoyed used one of the new stencils
ST1032 Stencil Plus Signs
with texture paste.
LSG magicals created the blue and green colours
over the top of the stencilling.
The title words are from the CB1237 Scrap Words 23
On the butterflies,  CB1028 Butterflies 18
I used Tim Holtz distress inks
and topped them with Glossy accents to make them shine.
The square chipboard CB5141 Retro Squares 01
was treated with gesso and randomly applied paint.

Thanks for looking; I hope you found something to inspire you.

Marine Life Trio By: Rhonda

The pages of the calendar flip by with much speed
and I have again been industrious in the craft room.
This time I have a 3 in 1 project to share that
is a set of marine inspired tags using again
some lovelies from Scrapmatts

Marine Life Tag Trio

I found some patterned paper that would suit a
marine theme and stuck them to both sides of the

The idea here with these stencilled backs took me back
to a time in my life fishing on boats. ST1022 String Beads was sort of
an abstraction of the extreme weather conditions, ST1030 Clouds
was very symbolic again of what to expect miles from
the mainland whilst ST1006 Stars is reminiscent of
days since past where fishermen used them for navigation.

Here is the reverse side of the tags and after applying
paper I stencilled using modelling paste.
I was so impressed with the stencils that in the future
I intend to further showcase the texture of a wide range from
Sofie's wondrous and very diverse stencil collections.

I first placed a piece of left over coloured gauze over
patterned paper to set the marine look.
Following that I utilised 3 stamps that I coloured & glossed
whilst creating a bit of depth by adding a border to each,
these were positioned on the tag to best enhance
the Scrapmatts CB5056 Twigs 02 & Seaweed from
CB1221 Nautical Designs 04 and the inclusion of
actual shells gave the 3 dimensional feel I was looking to capture.

Again, the gauze was used to give a fishing net appearance
over the patterned paper but this time the stamped images I
used were cut out and coloured with a sort of scientific
labelling of each and each were clear glossed.

I tried to tie the tags into the theme by utilising similar products
on each by way of using marine flora & fauna.
Scrapmatts was on the ball again here to help me
Often with nautical themes you find stars and star fish so
a little CB1223 Stars 03 was included.
A few micro shells finished the tag off nicely.

There was no gauze on this one but the checkered
patterned paper background seemed sufficient to me
and also allowed me to better showcase the fact that I used
seahorses in each tag with different techniques.
This time by applying a clear gloss over select parts.

With every boat there always has to be seagulls somewhere
nearby and both were sourced from CB1221 Nautical Designs 04...
I also added the licence number on the hull for a realistic look.
Also from the same pack was the seaweed.

Perfect Beach Adventure - Lauren Tomecek

As soon as I started planning my family holiday to Fiji, I was thinking about all the beach and nautical themed Scrapmatts chipboard I could use to decorate the layouts I would create. This is a double which has been perfectly finished off by the chipboard.

The seashells were in the white finish and I've painted them with some Gelatos so they have a light shimmer to them.

Chipboard used: SW004 Beach, CB1218 Scrap Words 19, CB4059 Nautical Design 03, CB4067 Marine Life 02.

Canvas creations - By Crece

Welcome to the Scrapmatts blog, Crece here with you today and I'm sharing with you a couple of canvas' that I have created for this month.

You Are My Cup Of Tea Canvas
I created this cute mini canvas as a gift for a friend of mine (she loves her tea!)
I created a mixed media background using book paper, tissue paper, washi tape, Drywall mesh, paint and different Dylusion inks sprays.
I also used the Scrapmatts Bling Stencil ST1037

I used Viva Decor Modeling Creme in Pearl.

Here are some close ups of the teapot and cup

To colour the teapot and cup from Tea Set 01 CB1141 I heat embossed using Stampendous Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel.

I also used Butterflies 20 CC1158 and embossed them in Gold embossing powder.

Follow Your Heart & Dreams Canvas
This is the second canvas I created for this month, it is of my 2 sons Andy & Fletch.
Again I started with a simple mixed media background and used Scrapmatts Stencil Sticks ST1003
I used Viva Decor Ferro in gold through this stencil.

I then created a 'Dream Catcher' using String Circles CB5114  embossed with Gold embossing powder and Feathers 02 CB1222 embossed with Stampendous Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel

I then used the 'Follow your heart & dreams' from Scrapwords 32 CB61113 as the title and used blue sugar beads underneath to highlight.

Thanks for stopping by to have a look, you can also check out the Gallery for more Inspiration and Ideas from the Design Team.
