C.S.I. Challenges using SCRAPMATTS.

Hello there,
How is your week going? I am mid winter here and I mustn't complain as Winter is needed, and it makes for good days indoors creating!!

Once again the Team from Scrapmatts were invited to be Guest Designers for the challenges over at C.S.I. Color Stories Inspiration Challenge and I would like to share two of my layouts from two of the challenges..

The first layout was created for the Mid June Challenge which was to document something about summer. Well I had to find some fabulous Scrapmatts beachy chippies for my page and then I created my layout.

some closer views ..

I love the different types of chipboard shell available by Scrapmatts.

Just some randomly cut Net chipboard.

Ah the Tranquility of the beach...

This photo was taken early one morning when we were at the beach, the water was so blue and beautiful...

The Scrapmatts I have used for my page...

The second layout I am sharing was created for the C.S.I. Color Stories Inspiration challenge #257 which was to document something summer...  So again I found a photo of my Dd when we had a summer holiday and created my page..

some closer views..

I popped a shell just lightly swiped with gesso in my flower cluster and a little frame is peeking out there too..

The fabulous Diamond Mesh is one of my favourite chippies to add some texture.

I put my chipboard banner pieces through two different embossing folders and I love the added interest the texture has given to the banner.. A light swipe with gesso using my finger is all I have put on them... The word summer was painted with gesso and then the same water color I used on the back ground in places.

My layout..

Ah I love going to the beach in summer time!!!

and the Scrapmatts I have used for this layout..

Awesome Guy : Case File 231

Awesome Guy Layout

Hello and welcome to June.
How are you all? Jodie here today with my layout called Awesome Guy for the CSI Challenge. You can join the challenge here: http://csichallenge.blogspot.com.au/

awesome
I have used this Case File to create my layout and features the Red, Blue, Yellow, White Scheme. For the evidence my layout consists of White Background, stripes and stars. My inspirational word is Awesome which is from the Testimony.

awesome

This is how I completed the layout.

To create the stars on the background I used my star stencil from Scrapmatts and inked through the stencil.

Creating the rolled paper stripes down the page, I used straws and covered them with paper.

I wanted to feature the quote on the picture so I used the star circle chipboard and I coloured it fire brick red distress ink.

This is the quote on the photo that my daughter posted on her facebook page for Father's Day. The awesome guy is her Step Dad and the quote really does reflect the man he is.

Using the smaller star circle chipboard which I coloured in mustard seed distress ink I framed the photo of my husband. He really is a goof ball. The embellishment cluster features a Scrapmatts charm, a bo bunny sticker and the heart is from my stash. The blue stars are a washi tape.
The awesome sticker is Heidi Swapp and the chipboard 'man' word is from Scrapmatts. To colour the word I used royal blue versa ink and then used the glitter pen from Close to my Heart to add sparkle.

For my second project for the month, I have decided to use the Art Frame from Scrapmatts.
Here is the finished frame.

I have used the Sage and Grace Collection from Kaisercraft to decorate the frame. I love the pastel colours of this paper.

To decorate I have used some charms, collectables and chipboard. To colour the chipboard I used gold ink available from Scrapmatts (Australia Only) and to ink the edges I used the Umber ink from Versa. The leaves behind the fussy cut flowers are from the rose string circles.

String Circles Showcase by Lauren Tomecek

I loved the original string circles when Scrapmatts first brought them out. Then Sofie and Andrew made them better by bring out new designs with dots, stars or arrows on the circles. Last month they expanded the range again to release a pack with larger sized circles! I fell in love and knew I had to play with them right away.

My circle for this layout looks a bit more like an oval, because I actually chopped it in half to open up that inside area a bit more. It doesn't go all the way around under the photos or the flower cluster. I love cutting up my chipboard to make it last that little bit longer or get it to suit my layout better. I've done the same thing with the leaves and the diamond background pieces.

My second layout is actually the one I created first, so it used the largest sized string circle and I haven't cut this one. I had a lot of fun creating that background circle with Gelatos but it did warp the page a fair bit. Some chipboard butterflies made the perfect scatter embellishments.

Don't forget, you can share your string circle creations with us on the Ning Gallery or Facebook page.
