ATCs and Cards - Lauren Tomecek

A very happy good morning to you all! Today my baby turns 3 years old and if I'd been planning ahead, I would have done a couple of layouts of him to celebrate. But instead, I was too busy trying to plan the party and get everything ready for my family visit, so I have a variety of small projects to share instead. :)

I'm a big fan of ATCs as they were the start of my journey into scrapbooking. They are also really great projects for when you only have a short amount of creative time. For these ones, I painted ATC10-010 Bracket 01 with gesso, then sprinkled watercolourpowders across them and activated with water. They had a beautiful vibrant colour while wet but unfortunately the gesso mutes that as they dry.

I've used stencil ST5024 in the background of all three ATCs, but each one was used differently. On 'Discover' I used a small Versacolor stamp pad in charcoal to ink through the stencil, this gave the crispest edges to the image. On 'Remember' I misted black ink through the stencil, you can see it leaked in some places because my ATC based had warped a bit after the gesso layer. Finally, on 'Inspire' I flipped the stencil over and stamped the left over mist onto the image, then misted white Glimmermist to highlight the design.

The sentiments all come from CB1199 Scrapwords 07. The leaf pieces come from CB1146 Leaf Spray 01, CB5144 Layered Poinsettias 01 and CB1235 Leaf Spray 14. I finished them off with the lace, flowers, sequins and enamel dots.

It's always a good idea to have a few birthday cards in your stash. This one didn't hang around long, I've ready given it to a friend! I used ST9018-A6 in the background, just as straight gesso over the background. Chipboard pieces include CB5087 Leaf Spray 09 and CB6100 Words 29.

The second card uses the same background technique as the first, but I've taken it in a different direction. I can never go past a pun and the CB4067 Marine Life 02 set was perfect for this one. The chipboard has been painted using distress inks stamped onto my craft mat then spritzed with water and painted on.

The last card is another birthday one which has a galaxy feel to it. Quite simple in design, but I think the background really makes it pop. The stencil is ST1008, I used Versamark through the stencil then embossed this with a clear embossing powder to create a resist effect. The chipboard is CB6100 Words 29 and CB1223 Stars 03, both have been painted with acrylic paint.

Maybe next month I'm be organised enough to show you a layout celebrating my son's birthday. ;)

November Love - Lauren Tomecek

Just one month to go until Christmas, I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by! I have two projects to share with you this month. The first is a mixed media tag in my trademark purple/blue/pink colour scheme. I love how sturdy the Scrapmatts chipboard tag bases are, you can really abuse them with multiple different mediums and techniques.

I've included a close up shot of this project too, to show the tulle backing to the heart, the crackle finish to the edging of the heart and the painted details on the metal charms.

Project number two is a layout featuring my two favourite men, my husband and my son. The photo is from Harrison's first swim in our complex pool.

Me!

Well that is an awkward title!

Lisette here and it's my turn to showcase the fabulous Scrapmatts products.

As you have already seen this month, Sofie gave all the new DT members a challenge - to create a canvas with a photo of themselves.  Once the shock of having to do that subsided, the next thought was Do I have a photo of just me?  Like most of us the answer was no.  Had to get my daughter to take some.

I am into paint and mists at the moment, and of course bright citrus colours - so that is what I used.
I used the dots stencil in yellow,  then painted the retro squares green and topped the colour up with green mist (I also used these as a stencil,) added some flowers and swirls with some words and I was done.

ST5006 - Dots
CB5142 - Retro squares 2
CB1004 - Flourishes
CB6103 - scrap words 21
and a flower charm

My eldest daughter has recently moved from home (Sydney) to Hobart.  She drove down so I went with her to Melbourne.  Had to get a selfie (red eyes and all) at Melbourne airport. It was definitely Tears for One!

ST1008 - Cracks
CB1241 - Scrap Words
CB6113 - Scrap Words
CB5141 - Retro Squares
and a bow charm

Hope you have found some inspiration in my canvas and layout with the fabulous Scrapmatts chipboard and stencils.

Happy scrapping

Lisette

A Scrapmatts Trio - Andrew Roberts

March is flying by and there have been some fabulous posts over the first part of this
month from the awesome new design team here at Scrapmatts.
This is my first post for 2016 and I have created a trio of projects.
Make sure you click on the photos to them up close.

If  you are unaware there are some wonderful stencils over in the Scrapmatts online store.
I have used some of them on each of my projects this month.

The first project for this month has a layout style with a mixed media flair.
I found a scrap piece of heavy weight box board so I thought what can I do with it. Then I reached for some of my stencils from Scrapmatts.

The one I used was:

Here is my creation. I love the photo, two of my sons sharing a special moment.

The chipboard Packs that I used on this piece were fun to use and are as follows :

CB6113 Scrap Words 32
CB1158 Butterflies 20
CB5123 Hexagon Mesh 02
CB5114 String Circles 01
CB5070 Australian Federation Screen Doors 05
CB4063 Leaf Spray 13

I have also included a photo of my back ground before embellishing so you can see
the stencil effect.

The second project for March is really a pair of mini projects that were a lot of fun to
make and are not to time consuming.
ATC's are a great concept and can take a multitude of different forms.
The Scrapmatts store has some great ATC choices, but I used the standard ATC style for my project.

The chipboard packs I used for the time ATC were

ATC28-001 Plain ATC
CB1072 Gears 01
CB1078 Gears 05
CB6101 Assorted Words 20
CB5132 Chains 01

The chipboard packs I used for the live life ATC were

ATC28-001 Plain ATC
CB1238 Scrap Words 24
CB1226 Marine Life 01

The Stencils used for these two ATC were :

Here is a photo of the background with out embellishments to get an idea of the result that can be achieved with Scrapmatts stencils.

The third project in the trio is a Scrapmatts tag. They are base to start your creative process
and can be incorporated into other projects as well.
I have to say this tag is my favourite of my projects for this month. I love the chipboard packs I used and the colour palette too.

The chipboard packs I used for this tag were some of my favourites and include :

CB3009 Tags 05
CB1232 Film Strips 05
CB6106 Assorted Words 24
CB5106 Chevrons 01

The stencil I used for this tag was a great back ground to give breakthrough
high lights of texture.

Well this completes my projects for March. I hope I have inspired you to give Scrapmatts Stencils a go on your next project and include you favourite chipboard packs.
Every thing I have used can be found over on the Scrapmatts online store

Thanks for stopping by and please come back to see more wonderful
creativity using Scrapmatts.

Happy Crafting
Andrew
