Welcome to November @ Scrapmatts!

Hello, hello.....dear friends of Scrapmatts!!

Kim here to kick off the month with a few of my recent creations!
Today I will be sharing a layout & a few cards!

The layout I am sharing today is one I had planned on entering into last months (October) challenge over at Kraft+.......The Challenge was called: I Can See Clearly Now
It involved using something see-through on your layout.
As most of you would know, I have been creating a lot of shaker cards & shaker tags lately, so I thought 'Why not do a sort of, Shaker layout???
Here is what I came up with.

My Boys - Lauren Tomecek

I'm normally a pretty bright and colourful scrapbooker but this month I've taken it to the extreme! First up I have a rainbow explosion page with a photo of my husband. I told him if he wants to take silly selfies then he should expect to see them on a layout. :)

I started by doodling my background in Gelatos, then washing that out with some water and playing with how the drips ran. The background has some extra texture as I applied gesso through stencil ST5003 on the left and right sides. The heart topiary (CB1110 Topiaries 01) is a classic chipboard piece, I've used two packs in my time with Scrapmatts. CB4063 Leaf Spray 13 flourishes in black provide some contrast to all the colour. I've used CB1159 Hearts 05 in the red, CB1166 Cupids 01 in white mist finish in the purple and CB6116 Assorted Words 29 for my title.

My second layout for this month is another bright and colourful boy themed layout about my son and his messy feet. They are always running or jumping or climbing or kicking.

I really wanted to capture the 'messy' aspect of having an active toddler, while still keeping a 'clean' layout design. The paint splatter stencils ST1009 and ST5010 were perfect to create that effect, using a little bit of mist. I mixed the same mist in with some texture paste and painted the title pieces from CB4055 Assorted Words 09 as well as some CB1078 Gears 05 pieces, you can see the great effect this created in the close ups. I covered a CB5117 Tabs 01 piece with patterned paper and added it to my top cluster.

I also created a little bonus project this month. Harrison had painted these wooden star bases earlier and I was saving them for a 'special occasion'. We had a few elderly neighbours pop round to give him some Easter treats, so I turned the stars into thank you gifts with the addition of a photo and some Scrapmatts chipboard. The sentiment is CB6020 Words 06, coloured with a silver sharpie. I've also added a couple of stars from CB1223 Stars 03 painted with acrylic paint.

Masculine & Feminine - December Creations with Christine

Hello and Merry Christmas to all of our Scrapmatts followers.  Today I'm sharing a masculine and a feminine project using Scrapmatts chipboards and stencils.  Let's start off with a masculine layout:

Scrapmatts chipboards: Triangles (CB5157), Chains (CB1229)

Scrapmatts stencil: Splatter (ST5010)

I inked the chains chipboard for a rusty colored finish, going with the masculine colors of the layout.

I painted the awesome triangles chipboard brown and snuck it under the photo to create movement to the page.  For some light splatters, I've simply misted through the splatters stencil.

Next up is a feminine creation...a rock that is!

Scrapmatts chipboard: Assorted Words (CB6116)

Scrapmatts stencil: Cobblestones (ST5014)

I love the new words chipboards of Scrapmatts and for my "unique" rock, I simply painted the word chipboard white and added it on top of the rock.  It's only fitting for me to add texture with the cobblestones stencil, then I finished it off by adding layers of Tattered Angels paints.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a very merry Christmas and an awesome 2017!  I thoroughly enjoyed creating with Scrapmatts and I hope you enjoyed this year's creations too.

Cheers,

Live Life Canvas

Good Morning Everyone, Rhonda here with you today with my Scrapmatts blog post...

This month I created three totally different projects to share with you all...

The first of my project's is a canvas "about me" and set by Sofie which was a challenge by itself and I must admit it was the hardest challenge I have faced for some time.
For starters I didn't possess a recent photo of me, so hubby said ok lets go and take a few photo's, so that was the photo out of the way...
The next problem I faced was having to use the photo on the canvas, no doubt a lot artists feel the same...

My canvas is titled "Live Life."

Firstly I used three different stencils for the background, I then worked out the rest of the chipboard pieces I would use and tried some stencilling on the them, it turned out quite effective...

Next I chose what colours I was going to use, I picked a few LSG starburst spray mists. I also inked the chipboard pieces once the texture paste was dry...

I laid the chipboard pieces where I wanted them to go to make sure they would not go past the edge, and once I was happy I glued everything down and I was done...

The products I used for this project are as follows
Scrapwords 24 - CB1238 in Burnt Cream
LSG - Time Travel Teal
LSG - Jazzy Jivin Purple
LSG - Magnolia Magenta Gold

I also used a few things from my stash
Prima Flowers - Butterfly - Bulbe
WOC - Sweetheart Blossoms
White Cotton Twine
Texture Paste
A stickpin I made

My second project is a quick present for my husband as it was our Wedding Anniversary on the 23rd March.

Chocolate bar slide cover is called
"Just For You"

I made the box and I wanted to decorated it very masculine, so it was a prime opportunity to use this awesome chipboard set from my DT pack...

Once I glued everything into place I got a small piece of chain and tucked one end under the belt and joined the other end to the top of the pocket watch...

Products used for this projects are
Mens Accesories 01 - CB1201
Buckles & Belts 01 - CB 1231
Patterned Paper - Fab Scraps - Shabby Blues (Retired)
Cardstock - Steel Grey Foil (From My Stash) A piece of chain.

My third and final project for this month is a card titled
"Birthday Wishes"

For this card I started with a white card base, then started building, before I got to far I found the Dress form chipboard piece I was going to feature and placed it on a piece of white card where I wanted to start creating the background, I had a mauve spray mist  that I wanted to use and spayed over the chipboard piece using it as a stencil in a few different places, I then used my heat tool and dried the card and my dress form chipboard piece, it turned out really pretty...

I used some gauze to sit under my Dress form with a pearl trim, a small resin crown and a crown charm, a velvet flower and some WOC flowers
I also used Micro Chips 18 to sit under the greeting...

Products I used for this card are
CB6036 - Dress Forms 01
MC1026 - Micro Chips 18
Cardstock - White and Teal,
White Gauze,
Pearl Trim,
Metal charm Crown,
 Resin Crown,
 Velvet Flower,
Seed Beads in Teal and Mauve,
 Micro Beads in Silver,
Pearls in Teal and Mauve,
 and some Sequins.

So there you have it my three projects created...

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you come back soon to see what the rest of the New Design team have been creating.

Until next time!

Stencil Fun - Lauren Tomecek

I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to find out Scrapmatts was expanding into stencils! Stencils are probably my second favourite scrapbooking item, after chipboard of course. :) They can be used in so many different ways and create so many different effects. I've used them a couple of different ways in this blog post and hope I've inspire you to pick up a few for yourself from their online shop.

First up, I created this canvas display piece. I had been saving this idea for a while now and the brick stencil was the last item I needed to make it happen. I applied texture paste through the stencil over the whole canvas, the different way the paste absorbs the mist makes for some great definition of the shapes. I then built up the scene with various chipboard pieces painted with acrylics.

Chipboard used: CB5137 Ornate Toppers 01, CB2026 Picket Fences 09, CB4058 Australian Federation Detail 03, CB5120 Windows 04, CB1146 Leaf Spray 01, CB2020 Vines 01, CB6071 Assorted Words 07.
Stencil: ST5013.

The stencils are also perfect for using to create backgrounds on cards. I whipped up this one for my husband for Valentine's Day. I used the diamonds stencil to add a subtle white gesso pattern and then misted over the paint splatters in two different colours.

Chipboard used: CB5113 Heart Frames 10, CB1199 Scrap Words 07.
Stencils: ST1002, ST5010.

This one has a wash of gesso for the background then the smaller paint splatters stencil in two colours. I love the random effect they give whilst in actual fact giving you total control of where the colour ends up.

Chipboard used: CB1121 Words 26 Best Wishes
Stencil: ST1009 Stencil Paint Drips

Don't forget that Scrapmatts is having a Design Team Call at the moment. Entries close on the 19th so you'll need to get a wriggle on but we would love to see you join the team!
