Scrapmatts sponsor CSI during March

Hello Scrappy friends, welcome back, lovely to have you visit again.

is sponsoring CSI this month and the Scrapmatts team have been invited to Guest design for CSI. Thank you Debbi Tehrani, your challenges are fun and make me think outside the box.

It’s easy to play along, just use all five colours, at least three of the evidence clues
and at least one of the testimony clues.

I used gesso on the white background before applying texture paste through the diamond stencil and splashing some ink around.

I love the fabric flag from Charms creations

and the Flair is from Funky Flair Studio, it seemed perfect for a pregnancy photo.

The Scrapmatts chipboard circle was wet embossed.

The papers are from Heidi Swapp, "September Skies" and Studio Calico "Wanderlust"

The Title was painted with distress ink and clear embossed
and the heart was randomly dabbed with a water colour wash.

Evidence

Stars, Stitching, Diamond shape, (the texture paste), Circles (the flairs and the chipboard), Washi tape, Bunting.

Testimony

I chose to journal about Adventure.

It was a hot day when this photo was taken in December, about six weeks before you were born. Mummy and Daddy were off on another Adventure, not travelling this time, but an adventure into parenting. I’m sure it will be as exciting, memorable, exhausting and rewarding as any previous holiday. Something they’ve planned and longed for and something which will fill their hearts with love. I hope you are a calm and happy Baby like your Daddy was and I know you will call them both to their higher selves, as parenting is the most important job they will ever have. We can’t wait to meet you little one.

The second project I made as a special gift for my DIL.
It's on canvas, because I wanted to use a lot of mixed media.

First I chose a mixture of sprays, acrylic and water colour paints to create
the ombre shading on the background.
The textured effect was achieved by applying crackle paste through one of the new stencils. ST 9002-A5, before over spraying with mists.

The large circle is String circle was wet embossed. I liked the symbolism it created.

The butterfly was a gift from my kind friend Marilyn,
when the one I had planned using was just too big.

The flowers are a mixture of older and new products, mostly Prima and K&Co.
I love the heart sprays peeking out from the clusters.
The stamp set is from Ranger, Dina Wakley quotes.
The flair is from Funky Flair studio.

March Creating With Lizzy..

Hello there, can you believe we are into March already!!? The days are going by so fast, I hope you are getting some time to create!!

I would like to share with you a couple of layouts I have created for this months blog post, both using lots of wonderful SCRAPMATTS products.

The first layout I would like to share is a layout for a challenge that Scrapmatts are sponsors for this month over at CSI Color Stories Inspiration . Challenges are a great way to try new things and also to make friends. You have to follow the criteria and it can be lots of fun. But enough talking, lets see my layout!!!

If you are like me and love using dies and chipboard, well just layer them together!! I love this gorgeous Ornate Frame I have cut in half to use it on two places on my layout..

I think the heart stencil is going to be one of my all time favorite stencils!! I have also used some Scrapmatts Words in my title!!

I love the cute Heart and the 'fun' in the circle too! And can you see I have created some texture on the white fence using the Stencil Cracks with brown ink!!? It gives the fence an aged appearance!!

The Proposal : By Rhonda

I would like to share with you a layouts and a canvas I have created for this months blog post, both using lots of wonderful SCRAPMATTS products.

Young lives are full of opportunities that are the creation

of inspirational times & photographs. When my son asked

his girlfriend to share the rest of her life with him by becoming

his wife I knew then that the two of them would be featuring

in many of my up & coming projects.

Here are two more for a proud mother to share...

With such an important moment in a couples life I thought it

imperative to both capture and preserve the beginning of their

journey and was pleased of the hugs & smiles it generated.

Will You Marry Me

My first hurdle with this was the fact that I couldn't find an

existing supplier of the chipboard title but a quick call to the

lovely Sofie at Scrapmatts and I was reassured that they

could rush me a custom solution and get it delivered to me on

the other side of the country in time for it to feature this piece

destined to become an engagement gift on 4th Feb

Positioning it atop the layout was the best way to take advantage

of the words for maximum effect.

Starting with the patterned paper I used one of the all

NEW A4 stencils and some texture paste to create a series

of different size circles as a base layer to simulate the

randomness of footprints in the sand.

To this I sprayed some ink to again compliment the natural

colours of the beach before placing the

photo & embellishments on top.

To frame the photo I used two different cardstocks & distressed

their edges to blend with the sand, under this I used

strips of cardstock & exposed cardboard to build & raise

the photo to give some dimension.

And with the moment preserved behind the glass front

of the frame this moment will always be a reminder of love shared.

This one is a bit smaller than the first but again captures

the energetic life & love they share

Love

Starting with a canvas board I painted it half yellow

and half blue.

After inking and affixing muslin over the painted surface

I then cut some scrapbook paper so that the edges of the

canvas colours and textures were exposed.

The bubble chippies were then used to raise and flank the picture

and finishing it off with some hearts and the word Love

inked in Brilliance Rocket Red and framing it with the ever amazing

string circles was all that it needed.

I hope you enjoyed these as much as I did creating them...

March Reveal - Lauren Tomecek

Scrapmatts is a sponsor over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration and this month the whole team has been invited to participate as guest investigators. While seeming initially complex, these challenges are always a great deal of fun.

This is the case file we had to draw inspiration from. Colours are as close as I could get with a little black and silver added (neutrals are fine to add, an extra colour can be no more than 10%). The inspiration image made me think of my little boy and flying, hence the photo choice. I've used design elements of stars, stripes, something that flies and washi tape. My journaling is about the adventure we had at the park.

My second project this month continues my love of the string circles, this time combined with my favourite theme to scrapbook: Christmas! Best thing about this is I only used one sheet of chipboard for all three pieces.

March inspiration - Crece T

And just like that ....its March!!!

Hello everyone, Crece here on this lovely day to share with you some of the projects I have created using the awesome Scrapmatts Chipboard and Stencils.

The first project is my new DT canvas. When Sofie and Andrew go around Australia to the craft shows, they love to display all the fantastic creations the DT have designed on a canvas.

If you cant already tell my favourite colours are blue and teal...I created this canvas to show my style of mixed media using some laces, a zipper, muslin and of course Scrapmatts Chipboard!!

My next 2 projects are beach themed...
I used the 2 different sized Ship's Wheel trays.

Shaker Wheel

I wanted to make this Ship's Wheel like a shaker card.
For this project I used Stampendous Shabby Blue embossing powder to colour the Ship's wheel tray.
I then found a lovely quote on some Kaisercraft paper and used that as the base.
I then added some small coloured beads and a little gold embossed sea star from CB1226 Marine Life 01.
I then cut some acetate to fit ontop of the top layer of the tray.
To tidy up I placed some pearls along the edge to cover up the glue I used to stick the acetate down and then finished it off by using chunky Gold embossing powder to emboss the anchor from CB6065 Nautical Designs 02
For this project I used Stampendous Shabby Blue embossing powder to colour the Ship's wheel tray.

Life is a Journey

I absolutely love how this turned out. Its a photo of my 2 boys from our last camping trip to Bundaberg.
I used the larger sized Ship's Wheel tray for this project and again coloured it using the Shabby Blue embossing powder by Stampendous.
