Creating with Scrapmatts and C.S.I.

Hello there,
Can you believe we are in August, my word this year is flying by... I hope you are getting some creative time to enjoy each month!!?

Last month Scrapmatts was a generous sponsor of the challenges over at CSI : Color, Stories, Inspiration and as a part of the Scrapmatts Design Team I joined in too, using wonderful products from the SCRAPMATTS STORE.

The first challenge for July was this one..
to use the colors, at least three clues and one testimony..  and this is what I created.

Some closer views.
Fabulous stencilling using the Stencil Triangles.

I love the Floral Design embossed in pink glitter.

And also the Lavender was embossed in pink too and layered over the Triangle chipboard.

Happiness is here!

And here is a list of the SCRAPMATTS products I have used for this layout..

The second layout I created for the C.S.I. Challenge was for this challenge..

This challenge had a lovely summery feel to the colors and so I used a photo from a beach holiday.. And this was my take on the challenge using SCRAPMATTS products..

Some closer views..

I added some texture to the back ground using the Plus Sign Stencil which matched the plus sign stamp!!

There are lots of beachy themed chipboards to use on your creations..

and my layout..

Another Tag Trio & An Angelic Canvas

I told everyone last month to be on the lookout for more
Junk-It Tags and true to form that's what you get this month...

My second project is an Angelic Winged Heart Canvas that I

did for my fabulously wacky friends birthday.

And as an added bonus this month because Scrapmatts have

sponsored CSI Challenge 233 and after assessing all the evidence
my interpretation can be seen at the end of this post...

Cupids & Chevrons Junk-It Tag Trio

The beauty about these tags is that the Scrapmatts 1000 series stencils
seem to be a perfect match in size and with a vast selection
to chose from and no end to the look you can create.
If you are looking for something a bit larger then look no further
because the lovely duo that is Sofie & Andrew have
created A4 - A5 & A6 to cover all our projects.
Otherwise, yet again this "Junk-It" style is as easy as applying
some texture paste over these stencils and
spraying with a colour suitable to whatever you have gathered
up off your desk from past projects...
You know the ones!!! The bits that never quite got put back away...

From here it is as easy as positioning the bits evenly over the tags
and digging through your stash (of carefully organised and categorised container) of Scrapmatts chippies to the pretty it up...

All other items that where floating about my craft table that
were separated into
3 piles as a kind of chaos inspiration project…

Angelic Winged Heart Canvas

Where does a person start...
OK...In to the repurposing pile I go again for an old frame
and glue in a canvas board.
The dark background is simply some black gesso to help outline
all the wild and wonderful embellishments and
Chippies that were to adorn it.

Before anything else could go down the stencils were laid and coloured.

The task then of centering the heart and attaching the wings
and leaving it to properly dry before continuing

I had to add a Happy Birthday and a flower for the occasion
and it was job done...

With the scene centred around summer relaxing I thought
it appropriate to incorporate the outdoors...
The subtleness of the 5 colours was difficult to confine myself to

but managed to remain true to them and although green is
not normally one of my favourite colours enjoyed its addition to
this case file.

As well as being able to incorporate a few of
Scrapmatts Chipboards and Stenciling I managed to tick off
more than the minimum pieces of evidence.
Layering/stacking started with the use of the A5 Bricks stencil.

No Scrapmatts project would be complete for me if it didnt
have some form of stencil and adding colour on top of them
always makes them shine.
Here I also faded out the carnation pink
whilst letting some other elements spill into it.

Documenting the moment was incorporated as a border

The product list was a variable one set only by the limitations
of the Case File but apart from that we were free to
use our own crafting style

ATCs and Cards - Lauren Tomecek

A very happy good morning to you all! Today my baby turns 3 years old and if I'd been planning ahead, I would have done a couple of layouts of him to celebrate. But instead, I was too busy trying to plan the party and get everything ready for my family visit, so I have a variety of small projects to share instead. :)

I'm a big fan of ATCs as they were the start of my journey into scrapbooking. They are also really great projects for when you only have a short amount of creative time. For these ones, I painted ATC10-010 Bracket 01 with gesso, then sprinkled watercolourpowders across them and activated with water. They had a beautiful vibrant colour while wet but unfortunately the gesso mutes that as they dry.

I've used stencil ST5024 in the background of all three ATCs, but each one was used differently. On 'Discover' I used a small Versacolor stamp pad in charcoal to ink through the stencil, this gave the crispest edges to the image. On 'Remember' I misted black ink through the stencil, you can see it leaked in some places because my ATC based had warped a bit after the gesso layer. Finally, on 'Inspire' I flipped the stencil over and stamped the left over mist onto the image, then misted white Glimmermist to highlight the design.

The sentiments all come from CB1199 Scrapwords 07. The leaf pieces come from CB1146 Leaf Spray 01, CB5144 Layered Poinsettias 01 and CB1235 Leaf Spray 14. I finished them off with the lace, flowers, sequins and enamel dots.

It's always a good idea to have a few birthday cards in your stash. This one didn't hang around long, I've ready given it to a friend! I used ST9018-A6 in the background, just as straight gesso over the background. Chipboard pieces include CB5087 Leaf Spray 09 and CB6100 Words 29.

The second card uses the same background technique as the first, but I've taken it in a different direction. I can never go past a pun and the CB4067 Marine Life 02 set was perfect for this one. The chipboard has been painted using distress inks stamped onto my craft mat then spritzed with water and painted on.

The last card is another birthday one which has a galaxy feel to it. Quite simple in design, but I think the background really makes it pop. The stencil is ST1008, I used Versamark through the stencil then embossed this with a clear embossing powder to create a resist effect. The chipboard is CB6100 Words 29 and CB1223 Stars 03, both have been painted with acrylic paint.

Maybe next month I'm be organised enough to show you a layout celebrating my son's birthday. ;)

My 2 Boys - Crece Thomas

Hello everyone, Crece here with you today and I am sharing a mixed media layout i created using some of the lovely Chipboard from Scapmatts and a stencil.

My 2 Boys

And now for some close ups....

Because this was a layout of my boys i wanted to make it really messy and grungy with the pop of the blue. To get that grungy look on CB5152 Circles 02

I used a product called Painted Finishes Concrete by FolkArt. It is a 2 step process and gives a great concrete look and that rough texture too - perfect for my boys page!

I have used Modeling paste through the awesome A4 sized Circles stencil - Stencil 9003 Circles

I love these new style stencils, the edges are awesome to use as borders in your projects too.
These Scrapmatt stencils are made from Mylar Stencil film that is flexible and reusable, and can be used with paints, solvents and is also food safe for cakes and decorating.

To add a splash of colour I have used Marker Maniacs Mica mists in Tutti Fruitti Teal, Swizzle Stick Blue and Jelly Bean Blue.

I have used Imagination crafts Starlights Metallic Paint in Agean, Silver and Sax Blue to colour the cogs and Smile.

Here is a list of all the Scrapmatts products used for my layout:

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon to check out the rest of the amazing work from the Design Team
