Scrapmatts creating in August - One layout and two cards

Hello again and welcome back to Scrapmatts.  It's Helen with you today.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Sofia & Andrew at the Craft fair in Adelaide.
Thanks for the chance to be part of the hustle and bustle of a busy stall,
I really enjoyed it.  It's an honour to be part of this friendly team.

First up is a layout about one of my Grand daughters.
The paper collection is from Cocoa Vanilla, "Wild at Heart".  A bit like my girl!
I enjoyed using one of the newer stencils, ST9012 - A5  patterns,  to create interest down the right side of the page, before splashing on some Tim Holtz Oxides distress ink.
This cluster at the bottom consists of:-
Leaves CB4070 from the string Circles 06 Roses, treated with gesso,
before adding water colour paint and some tiny beads to the centre of the flowers.
CB1038 Dragonflies 06 was heat embossed with gold.
The sweet title is from CB6117 Assorted words 30, just a touch of white paint to make it pop against the navy floral paper.
The pink and white twine and the locket are also available from Scrapmatts.

Can you see the little birds at top left?  I pushed several thick layers of texture paste through
ST9020 - A6 Bird Stencil.

Next is a vintage style card for a friend's Birthday.
The vintage image called for some vintage embellishments and I created the peach background with a stencil similar to This one ST9025 - A6
The leaves looked lovely with the At Deco theme, I used Distress Oxides and Wink of Stella to dress them. CB1235 Leaf Spray 14
I scattered a few Prills at her feet and the
trim across the bottom was treated with crackle medium and gold paint.
The tiny butterfly is from CB1028 Butterflies 18

Finally a Father's Day card for a special event coming up soon.
The background was created with texture paste through another new stencil,
ST9024-A5 - Bricks
Then I added Tim Holtz Oxides Distress inks, to create a patina on the bricks.
The gears were already painted black, as were the words.

July Creating with Helen - Memories, Hello and three ATC's

Hello and welcome back to Scrapmatts.
It's Helen with you today.

First I'm sharing a layout which I created for the Kraft+ July challenge.
I've used Fussy cut roses, a background of roses, a rose stencil and the stunning
Scrapmatts rose chipboard.
I used acrylic paints on the gorgeous String circles Roses  and layered them up with
pretty papers are from Kaisercraft, the High Tea collection.
The fussy cut roses are from "Devonshire"
The stencil is by Tim Holtz THS075.
The background paper is "Tea leaves"
The little title I just swiped with watercolour ink.

Next I'm sharing a layout which was a combined Scrapmatts/CSI challenge.
Scrapmatts is kindly sponsoring CSI again this month.

I wet embossed the gorgeous frame to highlight my photo.
The little wooden stars were added for one of the evidence clues.
The butterfly was given a water colour wash; another of the evidence clues.
The script word was heavily embossed with UTEE and the chipboard held up perfectly.

CB4069 Ornate Frames 26
 CB1028 Butterflies 18

Next up is a trio of ATC cards.
These small chipboard shapes measure 2.5" x 3.5" and are lovely for a little gift
or to dress up the front of  a 6" x 4" card.
Scrapmatts products used:-

Scrapmatts May creating with Helen - a layout and a card

Hello and welcome back to Scrapmatts.
It's Helen with you today.

First I'm sharing a bath time layout;
the bubbles stencil and chipboard seemed just right for this page.
This little Bubba loved his bath. No matter what mood he was in before he hit the water, he instantly became angelic in the suds.
I used my favourite embossing powder on the wings and the string circle frame.
It's Aged Ivory from Stampendous.   The Bubble chipboard was just swiped with Gesso and I used Liquitex texture paste through the stencils.

Next up is a vintage style card
This is a tent style card, so that I could attach a ribbon at the top.
I decorated the inside as well. The paper is from Pion.
I inked the spray of Roses and added shine with Glossy Accents.
The ornate frame was wet embossed with Aged Ivory from Stampendous.

Stencils and Butterflies with Christine

Let’s take a moment to honor the ANZAC soldiers who fought for our freedom.  They are heroes that will forever resonate and leave a mark of fortitude and honor.  ‘Lest we forget.

Today I'm sharing two different projects, both with Scrapmatts' Stencils and Butterfly Chipboards.  First up is an ATC which I transformed to a wall display:

Scrapmatts Chipboards: ATC10-008 Rounded Corners 01, CB1028 Butterflies 18, CB1238 Scrap Words 24

Scrapmatts Stencil: ST5033 Stencil Triangles

I thought what a great idea it would be to transform an ATC into a hanging wall art inspired by the concept of dream catchers, with rich shades of deep blues and purples altogether.

I just love how the different textured butterfly chipboards look against the stenciled triangles.

Last but not the least is a mini rectangle tray:

Scrapmatts Chipboards: Mini Rectangle Tray (CB6114), Ornate Frames (CB4069), Assorted Words (CB6115), Butterflies (CB1028)

Scrapmatts Stencil: Bubbles (ST5001)

Again I went for rich colors, but this time in red shades.  Nothing says romance better than this fiery color.  I love the fact that you can easily mix and match Scrapmatts' stencils and chipboards over and over again, while still getting different looks from it.

Thanks for popping in and I hope you enjoyed my Scrapmatts creations this month.  Keep checking for the rest of the team's inspirations and check out more Scrapmatts goodies HERE.  Enjoy the rest of your month.

Cheers,

Life is a Journey and an Easel drawer card

Hello there, welcome to my July post where I've used lots of
products, including some new releases.

The acacia tree and elephant chipboard sparked the idea for this page.  I’ve had the Lion photograph for many years waiting for the right paper and the Graphic 45 “Safari Adventure”
was just perfect for my theme.
I fussy cut lots of the G45 papers and attached them to
a 13@rts paper, "Timeless", Today, tomorrow, always.

The new webbing chipboard formed a “hide” for the lion.
We slept in tents like this in the Maasai Mara game reserve.
I love the way the chipboard responded to painting and glossy accents.
I tried to replicate the texture of cracked soil by using crackle paste through a stencil and adding destress inks.
The journalling on the back of the page.
Our trip to Africa was a holiday of a lifetime; something I’d longed to do since childhood.  To sleep under canvas and hear the lion’s roaring at night; then in the morning light to spot them in their native habitat, was absolutely breathtaking.  The whole trip was filled with extraordinary moments like this.  We saw Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant and Cape Buffalo and Rhinoceros, as well as hundreds of gazelle, zebra, warthog and giraffe.
The migration of the wildebeest happened while we were waiting at the side of the Mara River.  I learned so much about other cultures, foods, and ways of living and am richer for the experience.  There is something about the big skies, the Acacia trees silhouetted on the veldt, the golden light at dawn and dusk, that feeds the spirit and constantly calls me to come back.

The second project is an easel drawer card for a friend’s significant birthday.

I found the idea on You Tube courtesy of

Whilst it’s a bit fiddly to make, I think it’s worth it for a special occasion.
My friend loves Autumn colours so I used the Graphic 45 papers,
“Children’s Hour” for the project.
The Happy Birthday chippie was just the right colour.
The drawers are all lined with paper scraps.
The clock face was treated with silver and gold to create an antique finish.
I wet embossed the Flannel flowers and topped the centres with microbeads.
There are four little drawers, one on each side,
each large enough to hold two or three chocolates.
