Quick and easy titles and journaling

 Hey everyone,

I'm thrilled to be back this month with a triple layout set of pages showcasing how easy it is to use the fabulous chipboard titles and journaling words that Scrapmatts do so well ...

I've used the Mintay 'Harmony' paper collection for all three of the following pages and titled and journaled on each of them with chipboards from just TWO packs of versatile products created by scrapmatts ...

So the titles on all these pages come from this fabulous huge chipboard set ...

I ordered these chipboards from Scrapmatts with a white mist finish, so all I had to do with this first title of 'Memories' was use a ink sponge to create a variegated ( or ombre ) look using some blue ink. I started at the base of the word and worked the colour upwards, getting lighter as I went up each letter, focusing the most intense colour at the base of the word.

Next I simply chose the most appropriate words that suited the theme of my photos and the whole layout from this fabulous scrap words pack - the black background with the lighter engraved lettering creates a multi-dimensional look to what would normally be quite flat journaling.

And as you can see, once I stumbled upon this winning formula, it was simply too easy to run with it ...

With this next title word I heavily inked the whole word with the blue ink. After this is used some white acrylic paint to add shine lines to the sides of each letter - the white paint was permeated by the blue ink and ended up casting subdued shine lines instead of bright white ones - a look that matched perfectly with my 'Dreamy' title!

And of course the journalling was just as easy for this second page as it was on the first...

For this third and final layout I did the same variegated ink technique that I used on the first title, except this time I brought the colour in from the top and bottom, easing it off to a faded centre.

I probably could have created a more intense colour at the base of the word ... but I was wary of it disappearing into the background paper if I made it too dark.

And of course it took moments to chose the words from the chipboard pack and finish off the journalling that perfectly summed up my feelings about the moment captured in this layout 💙

And that's it from me this month folks.
I hope you have been inspired by these pages and projects ...
I wish you all the best on your own creative adventures.

Cheers
Kel

It's a Beach Day

Good morning Well on this very wet February morning I have done a layout with a sunny beach theme.
In the background I have used stencil ST5054 Floral Design with a soft glossy texture paste, I let it dry natuarally so that it remained smooth and shiny.
Although I haven't added as many layers and fussy cut elements as usual, I have still added some to give some height and colour using this lovely range from 49 and Market The chipboard is CB6128 Card Elements - Shells. I have inked it with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide and then done some white gel pen work on top. I have layered the chipboard under the photo and title at different hights and levels.

February Creating

Hi everyone

Welcome to my February post.

During Covid lockdowns I reignited my love of patchwork and quilting.  After completing some UFO's, I started a quilt for my daughter at the end of last year.  I haven't completed it yet!

My first layout is of our cat inspecting my work as I was sewing.  Not sure if he approves or not!

In fact he is helping me write the post.

CB1068 Hearts 01

My next layout is for this months Kraft+ challenge. Love these girls.  The last two years have seen the cancellation of Netball NSW Junior State Titles.  Love how they have all pulled together and kept strong and positive.  Fingers crossed we get there this year.

FEBRUARY CREATING

 Hello again my lovelies.

I would like to share my latest DT work using the, always, awesome Scrapmatts products.

So let's get into it.

First up is this beautiful pic of my neighbours gorgeous little baby girl, Alaina.

I used a technique that the very talented Kim Ewins showed us at the Neville Retreat last year.

Using the CB1021 Flowers 01 I first inked, then misted with water until damp, waited a little bit and then started to separate the layers. Once I had them the way I wanted I used the ink as a wash, by stamping on a mat, and painted the rest of the layers. This is such a great way to add dimension and interest to the chipboard.

I used a Prima wax paste, Sweet Rose, that I purchased at the retreat, to use through the stencil and also on the flourish pieces, which I then overlayed.

The Baby Girl chipboard was inked in a lovely shade of green as were the remaining flower pieces, provides a nice balance to the top and bottom of the page.

Some gorgeous lace motifs and bling gave it that finishing touch.
