Warm Welcome to February @ Scrapmatts!

Hello...hello dearest friends of Scrapmatts!
A very warm welcome to February!
Well, the first month of 2018 simply whizzed by, and caught me a little off guard, so I am a little late with my post!
Today I have two projects to share with you.
A layout of my super cute grandson, Angus and also a gift tag.
The gift tag is made with lots of
 'LOVE'
(well, February is the month of love!)

This take way created using Prima products teamed up with gorgeous
chipboard from Scrapmatts. I also used one of the sweet 'Heart' stencils, also available from Scrapmatts.
Scrapmatts Products used;

This layout of my grandson, Angus is titled
{Boy Life}
It was originally created for a January Challenge, but alas I missed the deadline!
I have used another Scrapmatts stencil that I am very fond of.

Scrapmatts Products used;
I have used the circles from the Circle Mesh and used ink and mist to colour them.

'Happy Valentine's Day'

Hello dear Scrapmatts friends!

Today is a very SPECIAL day for the young (or not so young) & in love!
'Valentine's Day'!

For my husband & I it is our 24th Wedding Anniversary.....(that came around fast!)

So, of course I had to do a layout of the two of us.
I have used three of the
on this layout & also some glorious Scrapmatts chipboard

[EST 1988]

I have used the stencils to create background interest.
Using texture paste with the stencils & also some Distress ink and a blending tool.

The Retro Squares are simply stunning to work with as is the gorgeous
 heart design chipboard, below.

here are the stencils I have used for this project.

And the chipboard.....
&

I have also made a
'Valentine's Day' card

A sweet card for his 'Special' girl!

With the 'Hanging Heart' I have used Metallic Melts to add a touch of
colour & texture and with the Ornate Frame I have just smeared white acrylic paint
over the top of it, then added a few drops of glimmermist and wiped that along (just using your finger).

I have used.....
and the new
 'Leather Look'
I hope someone makes YOU feel a little
special, this Valentine's Day.
Until next time

Scrapmatts projects and tag tutorial

Hi there! I'd like to share a few works I've made with Scrapmatts chipboards, and a small tutorial for altering your chipboard tags

First I made a romantic layout. I was looking forward to using the border chippie (CB2004 Page Borders 03) and I thought it was the perfect picture for it. I gave it a coat of gesso, painted it with white acrylic paint and embossed a script stamp with clear embossing powder. Finally, I painted it again with twinkling h2o, leaving the embossed areas white.

Here I used CB2004 Page Borders 03,CB5112 Hanging Hearts 01 ,CB1107 Clocks 08,CH064 Keys #3, CB4061 Assorted Words 17, CB1220 Ornate Frames 22

I also altered the gorgeous Mini Tray (CB6094 Mini Tray Stamp 01). It's so tiny and cute! I used some sewing themed chiboards to decorate it, it's going to be a gift form my mother and she likes sewing and knitting.

I used CB6094 Mini Tray Stamp 01, CB1194 Sewing 02,CB1168 Assorted Words 10

Finally, I altered two chipboard tags. I had so much fun making my backgrounds!!

I used CB3008 Tags 04, CB3007 Tags 03, CB4006 Frames 01, CB4063 Leaf Spray 13

Also, I'd like to share a quick tutorial of how I made the background of the second tag.
First I painted my tag with gesso, I applied two coats.

Then I covered it with Gelatos in different colors

I blended the colors

I used a mask and covered it with acrylic glaze. You can use gel medium too.

Covered it again with another color

Then I wiped the excess of paint

And this is how it turned out!

I added a few splats of color with a homemade mist, and I was done!!

Love is in the Air!

Woot! Love the new blog for the new year and some NEW chippies to show off as well!

Here is one of the stunning new designs hot off the laser cutter down at Scrapmatts HQ:

T <3 R

Here I have used the new chipboard CB5112 Hanging Hearts 01
(see below for how the chippies start off life!)

 CB5112 Hanging Hearts 01

I have used gesso and the Tim Holtz distress paints to colour this and finished off with a few extra embellishments, ribbon and a black felt tip pen.

Next up I have a layout I completed for the January post which I missed as I was quite ill with food poisoning! but I thought I would share it with you now:

The Grass Isn't Always Greener

Here I have used  CB2024 Picket Fences 07 which I have simply gessoed,  CB5099 Grass 01  gessoed and then painted with water and gelato's, and CB5106 Chevrons 01
which have been gessoed, gelatoed anddoodled on with a black marker.

Thanks for letting me share my new creations for 2014 and hope you are enjoying the new blog! Don't forget to check out the Scrapmatts ning gallery  too!
