The Beauty of Nature

I love working with embellishments based on nature - all the beautiful flowers, leaves and flourishes that tie in so well with photos taken in natural settings - and you can bet I work hard to make sure
the majority of our photos are taken with lovely green backgrounds! lol

At home I hustle everyone out to the back balcony for photos and make sure they have lush leafy backgrounds ... even at the beach I'm careful to make sure not every picture has the rolling
waves in them - I love scrapping those photos of course, but it can become an issue when every second layout in your album is nautical themed 😂

To compensate I make sure I always grab a few photos like the one below - still containing that beautiful beachy windswept, sunsoaked look, but with green backgrounds I can compliment with
lovely nature themed embellishments ...

The base of this layout relatively plain so I added to it by using this beautiful stencil ... all it took was an inking sponge and some blue ink.

I added the stencil pattern to the background paper,
but then I also added it over my matt to tie all the layers together.

Next I turned my attention to embellishing - these gum leaves chipboard sets that scrapmatts create are just divine. The just the right sized leaves and gum nuts for adding to pages and I think I would stick on everything if I thought I would get away with it!💚

I used simple metallic pens to colour these chipboards as the ink goes on so rich and thick
and leaves a bit of shimmer on the final product.

The gum nuts tucked nicely in with the paper embellishments on this layout.

And of course - one always needs a title ...

This fun and funky title was perfect as it was - finished with white mist - I simply
placed this straight on the page once I finished embellishing.

And of course I finished the whole page off by scattering a generous amount of these
gorgeous acrylic gems around the layout

This next layout has much the same feel, but this time I used a stencil to bring in most of the
leafy natural atmosphere.

Using muted metallic pens to colour my chipboards is defiantly a favourite technique of mine and here it is again ... subtly adding colour to these reedy embellishments that suit my 'by the lake' photos so perfectly.

For the leafy stencil I made sure to use a couple of shades of green so that they would have a somewhat 2D look to them rather than just a flat single colour stencil effect.

And for the titles I simply coloured them with the metallic pens as well.

And thats it from me this month,
Thanks heaps for popping by to take look.

If you have any suggestions for techniques you would like to see more of,
please just drop me a note in the comments section below.

Cheers.

February Creating with Lizzy.

 Hello there,

thanks for coming by!

I have two layouts to share with you today and I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them! I have used photos of my Grand Daughter, the first one is when she was really little, and the other photo is  from last year.

I have used my all time favorite Chipboard for this layout.. can you guess what it is??

some closer views.

This chipboard was just right for the title for my layout.. I have used water color paint which works well on Scrapmatts Chipboard. The same water color paint was used to add some splats on the back ground..

I have backed the Wildflower Chipboard with a sweet gingham paper.. and a few pops of liquid pearls in the center for some dimension.

I just HAD to pop this sweet bow on her head and it is lightly colored with ink from an ink pad and it doesn't lose any of the details of the bow.

I have also popped a few cute little butterflies and hearts on my page as well as the Hanging Hearts stencil I have used for some interest.

Totally cute!

And here is a list of the Scrapmatts I have used on my layout..

My second layout uses a photo of my Grandie the day she dressed up in her Book Week dress up. She was a little Gum Nut fairy.. so of course I had the perfect Chipboard to embellish my page!

I thought I would use the Flag chipboard for my title so I panted the pieces with a gold water color paint.

I put them aside to dry and then I die cut my letters and glued them on the banner pieces. I used some string to create the banner..

The Gum Leaves chipboard was perfect and I colored the leaves and gum nuts with water colors, shading until I was happy with the look..

Those gum nuts are soooo cute!!

I fussy cut some of the flowers from the papers and layered them up with old cardboard.

Book Week

These papers from Uniquely Creative have worked so well with my photo and the Gum Leaves chipboard adds the perfect finishing touches!

November Creations with Scrapmatts.

Hello there,
Are you getting excited for the end of another year?
This month is a busy one for me, I have my Daughters Year 12 Graduation and a Wedding, so lots to keep me busy this month... But first I must share two layouts I have created using wonderful Scrapmatts products!!

The first layout is of my Daughter. We are blessed to live in a country area and have 5 acres of land.. Down the back of our place on the creek bank we have some beautiful gum trees, and I have used a photo of my Daughter leaning on one of them... Well Scrapmatts have some lovely Australian themed chipboard and stencils and I used some fabulous Gum Leaves and Gum Nuts on my page..

Some closer views..

I have colored the Gum Nuts and Gum Leaves and added them to the papers which were perfect for my page..  Can you tell what is Chipboard and what is paper???  I used water colors to achieve the colors on the chipboard..

And I love this lovely Federation corner with a kookaburra on it as we have lots of the happy birds living in our trees!

Moments.
I love how this page turned out with the fabulous Gum leaves and nuts chipboard..

Here is a list of what Scrapmatts I have used..

The second layout I would like to share is of my Darling Grand Daughter.. Yes I became a Grandma this year, and what a delight that is for me, as most of my friends are all Grandparents, so now my Hubby and I are enjoying all that comes with Grandchildren.. but oh... they grow so fast! I am trying to keep up with the monthly milestones, but am finding the months are going so quickly! So I grabbed the photo of her at 7 months and scrapped it!! And all I used for my layout are those gorgeous Wildflower chipboards.. they are so sweet on my page!

A couple of close ups.

I traced around the chipboard flower and added a backing to the flower. I love how this looks.. I simply added some pink stickles to the paper part and some liquid pearl dots to the centers of the flowers.. The leaves were colored with glitter pens..

I put the sweet photo in the lovely frame and I think my simple page looks very effective giving my precious photo the attention it deserves.

7 months.
Isn't she the cutest!! well I certainly think so!! I love how pretty those Wildflower chipboard look on my page..

And I used..

Well I hope you are inspired from today's post, thanks so much for dropping by.. I know the days seem to get busier from now on for most of us... I do hope you get some creative time in the midst of it!
Until next time,
Happy Scrapmatting!
