Inspire

Hello, today I'm sharing some layouts and a card I made recently using a heap of Scrapmatts chipboards and the Mintay paper collection 'Graceful'.  Great products and beautiful papers make creating easy and I'm thrilled to be able to share a few ideas here with you as inspiration

On top of all the big titles, journaling tabs and cool feature chipboards I love to add in little sneaky extras like one of these string words - I adore the way you can easily make them a coordinating colour and slip them in with your page elements, they add feeling so easily and fit in effortlessly...
I always keep a pack handy for this very purpose. 💕

I’ve been up to my usual tricks here too - adding in easy journaling with these fabulous word tiles and colouring a hurricane lamp to coordinate with the lamp embellishments in the paper range

For titles at the moment -  I'm working my way through this HUGE pack of chippy words - they are great value and the perfect size for page titles. I simply hit this one with some glossy pink spray paint - so easy it feels a bit like cheating! lol 😜

I was a tad over fussy cutting by the time I got to this second layout, so instead of relying on the papers to carry the embellishment burden, I added a heap of chipboard elements - making the process much easier!

There were a lot of dark patches in my photo on this layout so I used black embellishments to balance all the light ones in the paper collection and tie the two together.

This lovely circle element was easy to dress up with some simple white shines added.

And I couldn't resist pulling in some colour to the background with this heart stencil and of course some simple silhouettes of flying birds. 💚

... and I'm still using up my chipboard titles ...
- this time they are decorated with ink using a variegated colouring scheme.

And last but not least - I have a simple card to share ...

Left over papers from pages are my favourite bits and pieces to use for card making
and a few special chipboards makes this an easy process too!

These simple small 'Happy Birthday' chipboards are a fantastic size for cards
- I coloured these with a black sharpie.

There is no real reason why I chose this street lamp to go on this other than that I love them - they are my go to embellishment for any ladies card - along with butterflies and rhinestones of course! 🦋

And this beautiful pack of journaling words was perfect for saying just what I wanted on this card.

Thanks for stopping by the blog to have a look. I hope you found some inspiration and I look forward to sharing more creative projects in the future.

If there are any techniques or elements you would like to see shared in the future, please leave a comment below, as the team and I love a good challenge! 👌

The Beauty of Nature

I love working with embellishments based on nature - all the beautiful flowers, leaves and flourishes that tie in so well with photos taken in natural settings - and you can bet I work hard to make sure
the majority of our photos are taken with lovely green backgrounds! lol

At home I hustle everyone out to the back balcony for photos and make sure they have lush leafy backgrounds ... even at the beach I'm careful to make sure not every picture has the rolling
waves in them - I love scrapping those photos of course, but it can become an issue when every second layout in your album is nautical themed 😂

To compensate I make sure I always grab a few photos like the one below - still containing that beautiful beachy windswept, sunsoaked look, but with green backgrounds I can compliment with
lovely nature themed embellishments ...

The base of this layout relatively plain so I added to it by using this beautiful stencil ... all it took was an inking sponge and some blue ink.

I added the stencil pattern to the background paper,
but then I also added it over my matt to tie all the layers together.

Next I turned my attention to embellishing - these gum leaves chipboard sets that scrapmatts create are just divine. The just the right sized leaves and gum nuts for adding to pages and I think I would stick on everything if I thought I would get away with it!💚

I used simple metallic pens to colour these chipboards as the ink goes on so rich and thick
and leaves a bit of shimmer on the final product.

The gum nuts tucked nicely in with the paper embellishments on this layout.

And of course - one always needs a title ...

This fun and funky title was perfect as it was - finished with white mist - I simply
placed this straight on the page once I finished embellishing.

And of course I finished the whole page off by scattering a generous amount of these
gorgeous acrylic gems around the layout

This next layout has much the same feel, but this time I used a stencil to bring in most of the
leafy natural atmosphere.

Using muted metallic pens to colour my chipboards is defiantly a favourite technique of mine and here it is again ... subtly adding colour to these reedy embellishments that suit my 'by the lake' photos so perfectly.

For the leafy stencil I made sure to use a couple of shades of green so that they would have a somewhat 2D look to them rather than just a flat single colour stencil effect.

And for the titles I simply coloured them with the metallic pens as well.

And thats it from me this month,
Thanks heaps for popping by to take look.

If you have any suggestions for techniques you would like to see more of,
please just drop me a note in the comments section below.

Cheers.

Quick and easy titles and journaling

 Hey everyone,

I'm thrilled to be back this month with a triple layout set of pages showcasing how easy it is to use the fabulous chipboard titles and journaling words that Scrapmatts do so well ...

I've used the Mintay 'Harmony' paper collection for all three of the following pages and titled and journaled on each of them with chipboards from just TWO packs of versatile products created by scrapmatts ...

So the titles on all these pages come from this fabulous huge chipboard set ...

I ordered these chipboards from Scrapmatts with a white mist finish, so all I had to do with this first title of 'Memories' was use a ink sponge to create a variegated ( or ombre ) look using some blue ink. I started at the base of the word and worked the colour upwards, getting lighter as I went up each letter, focusing the most intense colour at the base of the word.

Next I simply chose the most appropriate words that suited the theme of my photos and the whole layout from this fabulous scrap words pack - the black background with the lighter engraved lettering creates a multi-dimensional look to what would normally be quite flat journaling.

And as you can see, once I stumbled upon this winning formula, it was simply too easy to run with it ...

With this next title word I heavily inked the whole word with the blue ink. After this is used some white acrylic paint to add shine lines to the sides of each letter - the white paint was permeated by the blue ink and ended up casting subdued shine lines instead of bright white ones - a look that matched perfectly with my 'Dreamy' title!

And of course the journalling was just as easy for this second page as it was on the first...

For this third and final layout I did the same variegated ink technique that I used on the first title, except this time I brought the colour in from the top and bottom, easing it off to a faded centre.

I probably could have created a more intense colour at the base of the word ... but I was wary of it disappearing into the background paper if I made it too dark.

And of course it took moments to chose the words from the chipboard pack and finish off the journalling that perfectly summed up my feelings about the moment captured in this layout 💙

And that's it from me this month folks.
I hope you have been inspired by these pages and projects ...
I wish you all the best on your own creative adventures.

Cheers
Kel
