Feeling Krafty - Lauren Tomecek

I recently cleaned my craft room and discovered I have an abundance of kraft cardstock so thought I better put it to use. Kraft is fantastic to pair with chipboard, as it gives a really earthy/natural look if you leave the chipboard raw or can provide great colour contrast if you paint the chipboard.

My first layout is for the Kraft Plus challenge blog. I have painted the 'Cherish' piece (CB1134 Assorted Words 01) to match the rest of the title (CB6103 Scrap Words 21), which is only available in black. The feathers (CB5116 Feathers 01) look stunning with nothing more done to them, mine were cut out of the white mist chipboard.

As soon as I saw this bubble chipboard (CB5131 Bubbles 01) I knew I wanted to use it on a swimming photo of my son. I firstly used the chipboard as a mask with some spray, then embossed the chipboard in white before adding pearl accents. The title is from a mixture of letters in the CB1206 Scrap Words 09 pack, don't feel you need to stick to the expected phrases. The tag comes from the CB1218 Scrap Words 19 pack.

A tag, a card and two layouts

Hi there! I'd like to share a few projects I made with the gorgeous Scrapmatts new releases, love them!

In this page I used a border in the CB4060 Ornate Frames 17. I also used CB6043 Card Borders 05 as a embellishment behind the tag "live the life you imagined". I decided to use the CB1220 Ornate Frames 22 to frame my title. Finally I added the CB1198 Scrapwords 06 chippie under the bird.

For this page I decided to add a big flourish chipboard, I used CB1004 Flourishes 05, it's one of my favorites chippies! The little tag which says "Bon voyage" is from the set CB1218 Scrap Words 19. Finally, I added some gears from CB1073 Gears 02

I chose a bird cage (CB1016 Bird Cages 01) as the focal point of this card. The word "live" is a chipboard from the set CB1134 Assorted Words 01

I also made a coordinated tag, using that pretty frame (CB1163 Ornate Frames 14 ). The little bird comes in the set CB1203 Birdbaths 03. I added a sentiment from the assorted words chipboards (CB1198 Scrapwords 06)

Cards, Tags, Sunsets and New Releases!

Welcome to my blog post for February. February is such an exciting time because it's the start of all the craft shows in the new year which means lots of exciting new releases! Scrapmatts have heaps of stunning new designs this year (I'm loving the hanging hearts some of the girls showed earlier this month) and I have featured a couple of the other designs in my projects for this month too.

First up I created a matching card and tag set. I think there's nothing wrong with repeating a design if it works for you on a second project. These two are both a bit more feminine than my usual work but it was enjoyable to change it up.
Scrapmatts goodies used: CB6090 Ornate Frames 18 (NEW); CH004 Filigree Flower #2; CH010 Filigree Flower #5; CB1121 Words 26 Best Wishes; CB3011 Tags 07; CB1204 Ribbon Banners 01; CB1198 Scrapwords 06.

I was also sent a pack of the mini-tag scrapwords new release and even though the pack is sailing theme, I found these two tags were perfect for my sunset layout. Don't be afraid to think outside the box when using chipboard, sometimes using it for something other than it's intended purpose gives the most amazing results.
Scrapmatts goodies used: CB1218 Scrap Words 19 (NEW); CB5106 Chevrons 01; CH026 Butterflies #7.

This last card is just a quick valentines day card I threw together for my husband with some bits and pieces I had lying around.
Scrapmatts goodies used: CB4005 Hearts Frame 06; CB1191 Scrapwords 03; CH030 Arrows #1.

Don't forget to share your own projects with us over at the gallery, we would love to see what you have created using Scrapmatts pieces.

A Bit of Everything

So for something a little different, I decided to do a double this month. Every so often I get the urge to do one, when I have lots of pics I want to fit. And most of the time they frustrate me for at least a little while trying to get them right. This one was no exception. Balancing 2 pages for a layout can be more challenging than it seems, as its all about making sure there is an even distribution of photos, embellishments, title, patterns etc. But, how perfect is that Scrapmatts film strip for a double layout, which pretty much perfect fits a 1.5x1 photo in each section.

This first card was actually a sympathy card for a very sad occasion :-( But the wings were a perfect symbol of this occasion.

Then of course there are the fabulous February new releases. You have seen a few of these amazing frames and charms already but don't you just love them? They are easily amongst my favourite scrapmatts so far. So versatile and they look great!

Can't wait to see what you do with these gorgeous new items, available for purchase now :)
